In April 1956, C.S. Lewis, a confirmed bachelor, married Joy Davidman, an American poet with two small children. After four brief, intensely happy years, Lewis found himself alone again, and inconsolable. Great book, helps to heal a broken heart
This author is trying to deal with a great loss from a familiar tormentor, that has taken other valuable people out of his life. At the same time he is trying not to loose his religion. Trying to deal with a premature loss myself, I can feel his pain.

A friend lent me this book. I got about half way through when I realized I needed to make notes in the book. So I had to buy my own copy. There were a number of times that's Lewis' experience and insight matched mine exactly.

CS Lewis went through this pain and questioning God...it is not uncommon.
Great book for christians dealing with loss of a loved one, causing one to question God's goodness or even His existence. Deep grief. Deep pain. Heavy duty reading. I have read it through, and must read it again.

C.S. Lewis reviews grief with deep feeling
Grief associated with the loss of a loved one can be nearly unbearable. C.S. Lewis lost his wife to cancer. My mother died suddenly and unexpectedly. Even so the feelings were similar. This book helped me.
