    Sound quality

The picture quality on these old episodes is pretty good. Of course it's B and W. Unfortunately the sound leaves something to be desired. The characters don't speak all that clipped for being British. I'm surprised that the quality of sound in the transfer isn't better. Perhaps it can't be improved on. I wish it had English subtitles. ( Haha, English for English). I had to back it up to understand what they said. Well maybe some of the other episodes will be better. All in all its very good.

  • Nice gem for Holmes fans

For fans of Sherlock Holmes this TV series is a fun watch as it shows a younger Holmes & Watson when they first become flatmates. Most of the episodes are based on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's short stories but a few are new. Dr. Watson provides comic relief as usual but is quite handy punching out bad guys. It's B&W, picture quality a bit low but if you like the Rathbone & Bruce movies you'll find it enjoyable.

  • Peek back in time

This is a little-known series from the mid 50's that has a lot going for it. Great cast, some very good writing and good atmosphere. If you like these sorts of shows that provide a peek back in time to a different era, and also enjoy mysteries than chances are you'll enjoy this series.

  • Worthy watch.

An early classic of TV. This version Sherlock Holmes is clean, throwback fun, and surprisingly low on camp given its era.

  • Excellent shows.

These black and white shows have good story lines for the 30 min. TV show back in the 50's. Ronald Howard is a good actor and plays Sherlock well. Reminds me of his father a lot. Well worth the price.
