These DVD media are ok for data or short term video storage but NOT recommended for archiving. These disks are manufactured by a company in China known as UME which is well-known for producing sub-par blank media. Despite what they say about being compatible with most burners and players they are NOT. I tried them in several burners and about half of them did not even see the disks. Those that did burn would not play in some players. The price is a good deal but as I said, there is a high risk of failure with these disks.

Besides the fact that I never knew manufacturers of Computers and DVD's have different standards for Gigabytes(PC=8.5Gb DVD=7.9Gb), I still couldn't get them to work at first, even when the seller explained this to me. Now that I know, I also learned that I can only use them on one computer at 4X, and they're working good. My desktop recognized the disks, but couldn't write to them; one of my laptops wouldn't even recognize the disks["No Disk In Tray"]; the other recognized them, but wouldn't write to them if I wrote at any speed over 4X, even though it says they're supposed to write at 8X. It seems like they don't work well with older hardware for some reason. I have several other brands and they work fine on the same computers. These Kodak DVD's work good at 4X on my newer laptop and are worth the price.Read full review

For years I have used Kodak DVDs,with great success. These, with an all white surface, is a vast improvement over the all orange/yellow label of previous DVDs. There is one issue however. Burning at 8x created quite a few coasters. Re-setting the speed to 4x seems to have eliminated the problem. If this continues than these are a good value.

I've never had more than an occasional burning failure. Then I bought this frisbees...worthless! It doesn't matter what speed I try to burn them at they keep failing. I use a high end burner and high end software so shame on me for thinking Kodak could be high end like it used to be...back in the days of chemical film. Maybe they're trying to se uo some old chemical barrels they had left over to try and make these on the cheap, because these are the worst pieces of garbage I've ever used. Save yourself time, money, and hassle and just buy the verbatim brand of blank dvds.
