Love Pixar's visual interpretation of a love story, but couldn't they have put it in a plastic jewel case? As much money as Disney makes off their videos, you'd think they would put the three dvds in a better case. Just saying...

It has been said that when it comes to making motion pictures, "If it's NOT on the Page... It's NOT on The Screen!" This parable applies in particular when it comes to "SEE-ESS" (CS) or just plain "Cartoon Storytelling". Like the color frames of a comic book, most of the really good movies, films and shorts involving non-stop motion cartooning allows for all of the participants in this process to historically work at a slower, more thoughtful and often more creative and enjoyable outcome. This is the result of the unlimited possibilities offered when storyboarding the scenes while groups of writers and animators squash their asses into Bean Bag Chairs and just let their minds and imaginations the freedom to create these visions for us all to enjoy, Regardless of how powerful and fast work-station or desk-top computing becomes; driven by the power of "Moore's Law", the creative process it depends upon will always bee strictly a human experience and so...PIXAR will always be the best at this process...as long as they never forget that it all begins and ends with a good story. This is what they have done in telling the story of a romantically sentimental, seven hundred year old, garbage compacting robot named: WALL-E. How many movies have we all watched that were so devoid of story, so utterly bankrupt of character development and ultimately, digital celluloid that deserved to have the entire four reels of these two hour films... dumped unceremoniously along with all the other snippets taken from them... onto the cutting room floor? Too may, perhaps. And these were memorialized images of REAL PEOPLE unable to understand what it takes to make movies that mean something! Somehow, so very few of them rise to our need and sense of suspended disbelief and wonder we've come to expect when the lights in the theater dim and the movies begin to play. PIXAR has somehow always managed to grasp this concept in spades in WALL-E, even down the issue of what bothered me initially in the contrast between the soft, bulbous, amorphous (and boneless) "Pillsbury Dough Boy" looking humans dwelling on board "The AXXIOM" and the splendid realness and physics accuracy given the inanimate and robotic characters and their motions during the telling of the story. It took me a while to realize that those clever folks at PIXAR were well aware of what Mr. Masahiro Mori coined as being "The Uncanny Valley" that happens when robots or animated humans come too close to looking "Really Human" and creeping us all out! This contrast in appearances, along with the sadly clumsy, Origami-like paper packing used to contain this excellent three disk set were my only complaints about the movie set. Well...almost the only complaints You see...because of the Illustrious Dark Matter Power of M$ and the MPAA...I was unable to appreciate viewing the digital copy of this fine movie, because I don't use any Micro$oft Windoze products on my computers but rather, quite a few flavors of Linux (Fedora 15, Ubuntu, etc.) and so without a Windoze Certified Media Player...the encrypted digital disk would NOT play with any conventional, open source media players, like MPlayer, VideoLan, etc, That said.and with all sincerity meant here... even if you think you can find this movie over the Internet for download: Be smart and realize that with a brief visit to eBay, you can find gems like this that are NOT bootlegged copies and pay less $- 2 and THAT is a Real Steal! Long Live PIXAR!Read full review
Since 1995, the Disney and Pixar studios have collaborated together to create many classic film masterpieces that have taken us to worlds that we never could have ever imagined. Starting with the first "Toy Story" movie, we have been treated to some great cinematic moments that are a lot of fun. The 2008 motion picture "Wall*E" is yet another milestone in animation. Set in a futuristic world, the film tells about a lonely little robot called Wall-E, who spends his days cleaning up endless, massive amounts of debris scattered and littered about on Earth. Until one day, everything changes when he meets a sleek female robot named Eve. Catching a ride on her spaceship, Wall-E soon discovers an entirely new series of adventures, as he and Eve attempt to get a single species of plant life on board the ship, bringing hope to the captain who believes that the Earth can once again become recolonized. The art direction, cinematography, sound effects, visual presentation, film editing and story are all brilliantly brought together to create a unique vision that has since become unsurpassed in the world of filmmaking. This 3-disc special edition contains the feature film on disc one along with the animated theatrical short "Presto", the all-new animated short "Burn*E", deleted scenes and audio commentary from director Andrew Stanton; disc two has additional deleted scenes, the documetary "The Pixar Story" and "Making Of" featurettes; disc three has a Digital Copy of the film to be played on your digital source. Altogether, this is one of the very finest Disney/Pixar DVD releases available on the home video market. "Wall*E" will touch viewers in a special way.Read full review
WALL.E has fantastic visual displays and a wonderful story that not only shows how love can grow quickly for some and over time for others but also a message for the future adults and their wasteful ways. Something about the lack of conversation captures the attention of even the smallest children and keeps them entertained throughout. The story if E.V.E and WALL.E is not only beautiful but simple and pure. The story of the humans and what they did to the earth acts as a lesson to us all to recycle everything we can and protect our world for the generations to come. I love this movie and so does my child. Two enthusiastic thumbs up and both toes as well!!
