Overall might be OK for DIY use if you have proper Tap & Die Holder.
I do wonder if these are 2nds??? Overall might be OK for DIY use if you have proper Tap & Die Holder. Absolutely rubbish Tap Wrench & Die holder, which make the job much harder & feel like your fighting your tools, especially as you need to feel and align the start. Here are you issues:- Tap Wrench :- The body snapped as casting was fully of bubbles likes an Aero bar not solid ! See pics. The jaws deformed like mild steel, after a few turns into on 1st tap. See pics. The handles rattled & loosened as you held it, thus loosening the jaws, very annoying! Die holder :- The adaptor for smaller dies was off centre, usable but annoying! Screw were loose or tight. Screwdriver was the size of an electrical so useless. Taps & Dies :- 1 Die (I didn't check the rest) was drilled off centre, ... I do wonder if these are 2nds??? Some size marks weren't stamped or legible. I wonder about the accuracy of sizing, although I didn't check these. (I borrowed a M24 tap from a similar cheap set & it was larger by 0.7mm, which is a lot when your tap hole is 20.5mm!) Case :- The metal case is nice, but at 3kg made the set heavy (8.8kg) to lift out each time to use. The plastic holders in the case were very thin & I don't think will last every day use. The lid didn't shut properly & a clip needed fiddling, If I keep it, I probably could have realigned. FYI, I have a blow moulded version now, lighter & holds the pieces nicely in place in labelled positions a nice touch! Also these dies were split so you can adjust, all for the same price as this set. But definitely get decent tools to go with.
