Reviews
A frighteningly realistic fantasy. Lean crisp prose adds to the suspense and propels the story, and the eerie black-and-white illustrations by Dave McKean heighten the nightmarish quality of the tale., Kids will hang on every word. Coraline is a character with whom they will surely identify, and they will love being frightened out of their shoes. This is just right for all those requests for a scary book., Coraline is by turns creepy and funny, bittersweet and playful…can be read quickly and enjoyed deeply., Gaiman's tale is inventive, scary, thrilling and finally affirmative. Readers young and old will find something to startle them., So wonderfully whimsical that readers of all ages will hungrily devour itCoraline is destined to become a classic.|9780380807345|, Gaiman's pacing is superb, and he steers the tension of the tale with a deft and practiced narrative touch., A magnificently creepy story.for stouthearted kids who love a brush with the sinister, Coraline is spot on., The most splendidly original, weird, and frightening book I have read, and yet full of things children will love., ' Walk through the door and you'll believe in love, magic, and the power of good over evil.' (USA Today), Chilly, finely-wrought prose, a truly weird setting and a fable that taps into our most uncomfortable fears.

Not as advertised. Book came from some library, if I wanted to steal a library book there’s one a few miles from my house. Automated customer service, little to no help. Tracking information wasn’t provided until I mentioned asking for a refund. Completely different edition of the book than what I expected upon viewing the picture and the description. Wouldn’t order from this seller again. Book ordered on the 26th of October & received it on the 6th of November although it was “shipped” the 26th

  • Not Your Average Kids Book!!! But a Magnificent Read

If you have ever read a single chapter of a Neil Gaiman book, then you would know in advance to read Coraline yourself before reading it to your children. You could say that this book is Alice in Wonderland meets....well.....your worst nightmare (talking cat and all). His imagery is enough to give any adult chills, but keeps you on the edge of your seat wondering what else is up this author's sleeve. Course, it is all up to the reader I guess. If you are into reading your children stories about imaginary, doll-like family members, then this book is straight up your alley!! In short, this book is a great introduction into the world of horror.

  • So Creepy it is entertaining, you wont put this down till you finish it.

I agree that this book is not to be read by younglins. I have ordered for my 12 year old who loves mythology and horror stories. She can handle it. This book in particular is a very good read. The story is original, well thought out, and author puts together the fantasy world with the realistic world unlike any other story I have read. Creepy to say the least but very entertaining!

  • Great!

Good book for children that are starting out reading, it is a little scary though, maybe for an older kiddo but my 6 year old loves it!
