The box does appear to be a copy of the Caline CP12 (and is stated as made by Caline with the same circuitry), but I don't have one of those. It seems to give not just saturation but also a bit of something between the crunch of wheels on fine gravel and the fizz of a sparkler (this bit slightly delayed?). Output level depends on the "Level" knob and not really on the "Gain". I use it for violin and wouldn't want heavy distortion, after years learning to get good tone!
