I grew up with this type of seventies anthology horror movie. The tone is very similiar to the great night gallery anthology series of the same period. This movie and the other british anthology flicks that came out in the same early 1970's era : tales from the crypt, The house that dripped blood, Asylum and others were all influenced by E.C. comics and they all have alot in common with the comic books and the later american anthology movies like Creepshow. They are three or four short stories each with a shocking ending. This is vintage fun and all of these movies and this one feature fine performances from veteran british actors. So this movie is carried by the fine acting and standard effects of the era. That being said if you love these horror anthology films than this is well worth your money.Read full review
This anthology of horror stories is peopled by many fine performers: Peter Cushing, Donald Pleasance, his daughter Angela, Ian Bannon, David Warner and others. Their performances elevate the colorful but not impressive stories. The American TV series Friday the Thirteenth appears to have been conceived as a sequel to this film. Personally, I love Peter Cushing and bought the film solely to see him. He owns the antique store "Temptations" which ties the separate stories together. We therefore do not get to see much of him, but his appearances are a highlight of the film. He uses a working class accent which I enjoyed. Definitely a worthwhile addition to any Cushing collection.

I loved this the first time I saw it a million years ago, and I love it even more now! If you are a fan of short vignettes in one video, and prefer suspense to blood and guts, then you will like this! Four customers come into an antique shop and, based on what they steal from the shop's owner, suffer the consequences in a manner unique to their own life. It is a hoot! I love me some Peter Cushing and Donald Pleasence! Give it a try, I don't think you'll be disappointed if you truly, like me, love anthologies.

Peter Cushing plays a small but interesting part as the owner of an antique shop. As unethical shoppers try to take advantage of the elderly shop owner the items they select are of the occult nature and we all know what payback is. More campy than scary but enjoyable.

It's a good movie with pleasantly tense moments, and an atmosphere that seems a tribute to "Tales From The Crypt".
