Good price but may not be for small or arthritic hand
I have new growth soft wood mulberry shoots growing over a fence line. I wanted to be able to hold the shoot with one hand and cut it off with the other (while maintaining balance on a ladder). I did not want to spend $30-$50 so I chose to try this one. As others have noted in feedback, this is a larger tool and will work best with a large hand. My hand is small and arthritic and I have weak wrists. I am able to grip this and squeeze it closed if I am working with smaller, soft, new growth wood. For a larger branch or for harder wood from prior years, I have to use both hands to squeeze it closed. A person with a larger healthy hand with good grip strength could use this one handed over a much larger range of wood growth than I can. The health of my hands will probably require me to buy a ... I have had several times where the pruner has cut 3/4 to 7/8 of the way through the branch and then the ratchet action will stop engaging properly and I cannot get the rest of the cut done. When that happens I have to use both hands, open the pruner as far as it will open and then work on opening and closing the pruner several times until I can get the ratchet action to reengage properly. So, it works for me but not as effectively as a smaller more ergonomic (and probably much more expensive) tool would.
