  • Coal Run by Tawni O'Dell

I bought this audiobook after listening to Back Roads. I think that I have found a new favorite author. Although to me, it is not as good as Back Roads, it is still on my list as one of the better audio books that I have listened to. The reader is very good as in his voice fits his character and he does the other characters voices well also.

  • i didn't think I'd like a book I bought for 4 dollars

This was really well written, and I have to say, I didn't have high expectations for it. But it turned out to be worth all $4.24. The plot line is not very important to me, although i guess at the end, I did appreciate the here and now of the story. But the background info...so incredible and alarming and it's hard to not be moved by things O'Dell describes like mine fires that spread so far and so fast that the people had to move and the ground, like quicksand swallowed things like bikes into a hot fiery inferno. It has some really good imagery. It's worth the read if only for the detail.
