HomeLink Repeater works great, easy setup

Recently installed new Liftmaster garage door openers with the latest security (Security+ 2.0). They work great with the HomeLink system in my newest car (2015) but not with those in my older cars (early 2000s). I could have just used the supplied remotes, but I hate having those things clipped to my visor, so I sprung for the fix. These repeater devices receive the encoded signal from the HomeLink system in the older cars and retransmit it using the new protocol. Note, each repeater is coded to a single door opener so you'll need one for each door opener you plan to operate from the older HomeLink systems. Setup according to the supplied instructions was pretty straightforward. There was one point of confusion as the instructions didn't address programming with door openers having the ...

A necessary evil for new garage door opener owners

I hesitantly recommend this product. If you have an older vehicle using Homelink, and buy a new garage door opener, you HAVE TO buy it if you still want to use Homelink. It is very easy to install, and quick to set up. I have the receiver unit installed on the ceiling adjacent to my opener, as the instructions recommended placing in close proximity. I am using this repeater on two vehicles (a Nissan and an Infiniti). Both vehicles have intermittent success in opening/closing the door using their built in Homelink feature. On the Nissan, if I continue to push the button, the door will usually move ... but not all the time. On the Infiniti, I had to reprogram after a few weeks, and the response is so-so. With that said, you have no other choice than to buy a new vehicle, or find an older ...

    • Bridge Kit

Simple to set up and also permitted our separate detached garage door to work as well as our attached garage door where it was set up. Our detached garage door opener is located about 50’ away from the attached garage door opener. The range from our vehicle is shorter than using the actual remote but this gave us back the convenience and permitted Us to set up the home link in both our Toyota Highlander and Audi vehicles. This was used for bridging our 2 new Chamberlain LED/MYQ Battery back up openers.

    • Allows you to keep using your not-the-latest Homelink with Security + 2

I recently had to replace my ~40 year old Genie and was disappointed to find that the Homelink in my '07 car would not operate my new Liftmaster. Not wanting to clip a remote to my sun visor I bought the repeater. Plug the repeater into the receptacle with the opener, train the Homelink button with the supplied remote, press the Learn button etc as usual. Anyone who uses a Homelink knows that it is slower than a typical remote. Add the repeater function of receiving a signal and re transmitting to the opener and it might appear that it is not working. Don't hold the button waiting for the door to move. Press for about a second and release. The door will start to move then. Works very reliably for me.

    • A Necessary Piece of Hardware - It Works Well

The repeater is necessitated by the existing HomeLink technology in our cars, versus the new assurelink standard that the garage door opener features. The instructions were easy to follow and the device was quickly implemented. The only two issues that I have noted (no fault of the hardware) were: * The sensitivity requires that the vehicle be closer to the garage door than using the receiver in the opener. Mounting the repeater closer to the overhead door location might improve this. * There is a slight latency between pushing the HomeLink button and the start of the movement of the door. I attribute this to the translation of the codes and change of RF channel. Despite the minor drawbacks, the use of this product is more convenient than using one of the supplied remotes and ...
