    I am very happy with this preamp. It works much better than expected. If you have high noise in an Icom, it likely could be rf switching pin diodes. This unit bypasses the noise problem by setting the switch to attenuator, & chnnecting this Nooelec preamp to external preamp, in back of radio. use different length connection cables, to avoid oscillation from internal feedback in receiver chassis. It is not the Nooelec preamp causing the oscillation. It's amazing how good this preamp works.
