About this product

Product Information

Bonnets evoke the mystique of a bygone day. If you cherished paper dolls as a child, these charming quilt block designs will bring back delightful memories. Choose from 15 Bonnet Girls, their children, menfolk, and pets and create a family. Depict movement and different scenes by simply changing the positions of bonnets, arms, hands, and legs. More than 30 props - hats, parasols, flowers, animals, and background settings - are interchangeable. Add lace, ribbons, beads, cords, and tassels for a sparkling finish. Lend a sense of weather by quilting wind, raindrops, snowflakes, or clouds. Included are more than a dozen background quilting designs - all suited for traditional applique, redwork, and embroidery.

I am really pleased with my purchase. It is in really lovely condition, which is exactly as described and as expected. It was very well packaged and arrived much quicker than I expected from overseas. It’s the first time I have used eBay international ordering from Canada and I am so pleased I did. Really excellent eBay seller, I would certainly recommend. Thanks so very much.

  • Sweet Nostalgia

This is one of my favorite books. Why? Because I love nostalgia. I love sunbonnets as well but I can be a bit snotty about it. I love Bertha Corbett's _original_ sunbonnet babies and I loved the sunbonnet girls that were in comics in the 1930's (no, I'm not quite that old but my grandmother was and clipped those, I have them in large scrapbooks along with myriad newspaper quilt patterns from KC Star and other places she collected from, family addiction, I can't help myself). What I _don't_ like are big globby generic sues with hands like frying pans and a hat that looks like an overturned urn. Blech. When it comes to sunbonnets it's all in the details. Which brings me to Helen R. Scott's Bonnet Girls. This book is rife with detail from how to braid and style braids and buns to ...

  • Bonnet Girls

I came across some individual patterns for the bonnet girls at an antique shop and bought about 15 of them. That night I researched these patterns on the internet and found there is actually over 150 individual patterns like the ones I found at the antique store, along with 2 companion books you can learn how to use these patterns and combine them in quilts. I was so excited about my “find” that day that I went back a few days later and bought the last 10 patterns that were left! Now I need to get some time to make these fun bonnet girls!!
