The item is great, but it had a little play. It was impossible to completely block it. I eventually disassembled it and realized that it was an issue of mechanical tolerance and "old" glue. With little work, now it is flawless.

  • Indexing works good but mechanism jams trying to move it from free rotation mark

The detentes at various angles work great however if you move the mark over to the free rotation point it does pan both ways without issue but trying to move it back to any of the indexing it jams up and you have to force it to over. No way you can do that while it is on a tripod. So effectively you can only use this as an indexing head. Forget about using it as a freely paning head. It looks to be machined very well with the caveat of just avoid panning it as explained above. I think it is of value as I purchased it for doing nightscape photography.
