If you've never seen any of Comedy Central's Celebrity Roasts, you had better be prepared for outrageous, vulgar, crude, mean, sarcastic, and just plain nasty jokes, insults, slurs and degrading treatment. This applies to the guests as well as the man of honor. Even guests in the audience aren't safe from abuse as comic after comic take shots at anybody present. Nothing is sacred and everybody is fair game at these functions. The guests range from the great Betty White to a bunch of nobodies that even God never heard of. This DVD is not for the faint hearted or shy person. It starts slowly because of the always boring Jason Alexander as host, buts after the first few bozos get rolling, it becomes laugh out loud funny as the insults fly. I give credit to anybody that can sit and be meanly insulted and ripped apart for the sake of entertainment. For most of the show, Bill Shatner sits quietly and politely laughs at the attempts to degrade him with low brow humor and comments about his sexuality, acting career, life choices and singing. When they start showing very old clips of some of the singing Bill has recorded, the insults become justified. No one can say he hasn't had a successful and varied career. It was very apparent that although everybody did and said whatever they could to insult poor Mr. S, that they did respect and appreciate him. And trust me, he can give it as well as he gets. Have a couple drinks and turn the volume up to enjoy this. It'll take a while to get through it, but it'll be worth it!Read full review
I saw this on tv and just have to have my own copy. If you are in need of a good laugh. And you don't mind folks poking fun at everthing you can think of. Seat down with some friends and pop this in the dvd player. Seat back and get ready to laugh your ass off. And if you know somebody feel down take it over to them they say laughter is the best medica. I'm looking to buy all the roast shows they had on Comedy Central. The only draw back some are cut for some reason. You would think you'd get to buy the full version like this one. Plus all the extras they add to dvds these days. So for the laughs and chuckles money well spent. Hugz Sarah
It was okay for a roast, I always wonder why they can't get anyone good as a roaster, there's always a bunch of unknowns, has-beens and idiots roasting. But over-all it was a very funny roast and I laughed a lot. It was worth it and I think most peoples would like the roast of William Shatner. Unless you're easily offended, and don't care for pee-pee and ca-ca jokes, or gay jokes, it may not be for you, but it is after all a roast. Expect bad jokes and insults and you'll not be disappointed.
Love the no holes I mean holds barred jokes Lisa Lampanelli is my favorite!!
