The device communicates over the Ethernet however, Port 1 (RS232) output works but Port 2 (RS485) does not - the differential signal is not correct.

I don't quite believe that port 2 doesn't work. Have you tried to swop the wires on R+/R- port? Are your port settings correct (baud rate etc.)? Have you tried to poll the device e.g. with Modbus Poll software? There are so many different things which may can go wrong with Modbus.
