Within minutes, Bourne is on the run from a seemingly ever-present agency, relying on language and fighting skills he didn't even know he possessed. Offering $20,000 for a ride to Paris, Bourne gains the reluctant help of the nomadic Marie (Franka Potente). Meanwhile, the shadowy organisation, headed by a tough-talking bureaucrat (Chris Cooper), sends numerous assassins (including the Professor, played by Clive Owen) after Bourne and Marie. As their situation grows more perilous, the two strangers struggle to find out who Bourne really is and why they are being hunted. Doug Liman's adaptation of Robert Ludlum's best-selling novel is a remarkable exercise in straightforward storytelling, with the director wisely choosing to focus on Bourne and his quest for identity. The fight sequences are thrilling, but never overly glamorised, and the film's pacing is engaging and deliberate. Damon, who displays genuine bewilderment as his character discovers his almost-superhuman abilities, anchors the proceedings with the subtle charm of an unlikely action hero. Potente also shines as Bourne's road companion, a savvy woman who slowly builds an utterly believable relationship with the confused man. Bearing distinct affinity for its European setting and classic Hollywood suspense films, THE BOURNE IDENTITY succeeds as an unusually smart character-driven thriller.

The Bourne Identity - Repackaged Version
Based on a book by Robert Ludlum, Excellent interpretation of the book, a movie with great production values makes this thriller ‘a one to watch’ for action fans. Speaking with ‘hindsight’ this is a great start to a three film franchise. This is the re-packaged version if you have the original DVD it’s not worth buying this one, unless you’re a collector. Plot summary: Some fishermen pull a body of a man from the sea, even though he has two bullet holes in him, he is alive, and unfortunately he cannot remember who he is. During the removal of the bullets an implant is discovered containing the number of a Swiss bank account. Once healed the young man goes to Zurich accesses the account and discovers his name is Jason Bourne, also within the deposit box is a large amount of cash and ... A real rival to Bond
The Bourne Identity is the first part of a trilogy featuring Matt Damon as Jason Bourne - a man brainwashed into becoming a ruthless and deadly assassin. From his first hesitant attempts to find out who he is when he awakens on a ship in the Mediterranean with amnesia The Bourne Identity is a cracking thriller/action movie. I just love it!

A fantastic thriller with good suspense
The Bourne Identity has great suspense, and has really good action sequences. The music, I thought, was fantastic, and it all combines to make an excellent movie. Verdict? An excellent movie full of action and suspense.

Matt Damon at his best. This is the first part to the best trilogy ever! Really good action sequences coupled with intelligent manoeuvres. This film gives birth to a new breed of action films. Bourne Identity is not a film to be watched on its own however. The plot is difficult to understand without watching the sequels along with it.

Loved the film, high powered, high tech, very intelligent - well made film based on a novel from a world famous author (Robert Ludlum). Superb acting Matt Damon and Chris Cooper brilliant action sequences. Very tense thriller. One for my growing collection.
