    Good Quality-With One Modification

This is a great product with a substantially larger mounting surface than the antenna it replaced. As delivered, this should hold up better than others I’ve had. I’ve given it 4 stars only because my experiences with glass mounted antennas has led me to modify it slightly. The modification is necessary because of automatic car washes. Rotating brushes will eventually overpower the adhesive and rip the antenna and mount off the glass. Unscrewing the antenna every time my truck is washed is not only time consuming but eventually wears the fine brass threads reducing a secure connection and conductivity. Loosening the mount and lowering the antenna so it’s facing downward out of the way of brushes is a much better solution. As delivered, a philips screwdriver is required to lock the antenna into position. I’ve found an Allen wrench is a better tool for this if it’s going to be done often (I wash my truck 2 or 3 times a month). If a more easily adjusted locking bolt were to replace the Philips, I would gladly give the antenna 5 staris. Note: I’ve also added a (modified) wing nut so I can use my fingers and rely on the allen bolt for additional grip on long trips or visits through parking ramps. I’ve attempted to add a photo of what I described but was unable to. If that gets fixed, I’ll add it.

  • Most critical review

    Typical Construction

I've had and used this antenna for several months now and it does a decent job. It has no gain, as it is 1/4 wave on both 2m and 440 but I have had few problems getting to local repeaters. Coax retention is mediocre, the adhesives on the coax clips is very heat sensitive and they all popped off the glass though the antenna itself has not moved.

  • Easy to install

I’ve got good reports on this one, and I’ve been able to keep contact where I suspected I wouldn’t. Easy to install. It comes with a counterpoise and a small screwdriver for adjustment. You need an SWR meter or similar if you want to adjust the antenna. It worked out of the box, so adjustment is not really needed for casual use.

  • TRAM 1191 worked fantastic on my Elantra 2001. Seems Elantra window did not degrade performance. Got a 1.2 SWR.

Mounted on my Elantra 2001 and wow! I had a less that 1.2 SWR. I was expecting something around 1.5, this because it was a glass mount antenna. Very happy it turn awesome in my case! Antonio, NP3BT

  • Great performance window mount antenna

High quality components and easy to install with good directions. Tuning was straightforward and I was able to get SWR below 1.5:1 across the VHF and UHF amateur bands. Using on our RV and didn’t want to drill any holes. Would highly recommend this antenna and is a good value. Note window must be glass.

  • Antenna doesn't work

After following the instructions on insulation, the SWR could not be set for the ham radio, It pegged out higher than when it was set on SET. Way to risky to take a chance on burning up the trans sever to use. The next morning found the out side of the antenna on the ground. Sits in my garage.

2 to 3 s points lower than a vhf quarter wave on uhf the gain 2 X 5/8 compensate the real Power transmitted i;e; gain of a quarter wave
