I read this book myself a couple of years ago. It was an amazing eye-opening view of the effectiveness of Christians from the devil's and demons' perspective. My son is a new Christian and is not yet sanctified. He is full of opinions, as most young men are; but most are not biblical. Discussing theology with him is a miserable experience; he desires to debate and will not be proven incorrect even when he is. While he has never been much of a reader, he has been engrossed in THE SCREWTAPE LETTERS. He has carried the book with him everywhere he's gone. He has become enlightened to the seriousness of what it means to be an effective Christian, an effective witness, to be set apart from the world for the purposes of God. The book makes it clear as to the importance of "enduring to the end to be saved". He has come to realize that his opinions are not the ultimate say in life. God's word is true and real. And the worldly things we, as Christians, take lightly, are actually very serious matters in the spiritual realm. Have we excused lying? Have we quit praying? Have we been indulging in sexual sin? Are we witnessing or remaining quiet out of fear of being considered "intolerant" or "politically incorrect". The devil rejoices every time we do not heed the directives and precepts in the word of God. There is demonic victory in the spiritual realm when we make excuses for sin. Do we keep a "short list" with God? Or has it been so long since we sought out His will, wisdom and help, or worshipped Him in spirit and truth, or acknowledged that it is He who gives us our breathe from one minute to the next? Jesus is real. And we can live in victory with the power of the Holy Spirit daily. Or, we can, by apathy, serve satan daily. The choice is ours. C.S. Lewis brings the truths and urgency of daily service to the Lord into astonishingly clear view for the believer in THE SCREWTAPE LETTERS. I believe that true believers who read this book will never look at the blood of Jesus the same again. It is not a light thing when we cross the blood line to indulge in the sins of the world and the sins of the flesh. Directly, or indirectly, we are serving spiritual world, whether for Christ, or against Him when we do that. Read THE SCREWTAPE LETTERS to experience a spiritual enlightenment like you haven't known since you received Christ as your savior!Read full review
I ordered this book after hearing a recommendation on a TV worship service. Although I haven't read very far, the concept of a minion of the devil communicating with a lesser demon about a human is quite intriguing. I believe that I may receive some ideas about how to thwart Satan by doing the reverse of what the writer recommends to his underling! I can't lose by reading C. S. Lewis.😊

It's a reverse of Christian love from Satan's view point - written I believe to warn us that Satan is always looking for our week spots to tempt us away from focus on God and eternal life in his presence.

This time, I purchased Screwtape Letters to give away to members of my group. We will use the arguments proposed by Screwtape to examine human weaknesses and their constant desire to undermine their own interests through irrational behavior. The format is that outlined by Marion De La Torre. We just had our first chapter and I received extremely positive feedback. Without De La Torre's help, I would have approached Screwtape simply as entertainment as opposed to lessons to be learned. If you are familiar with C. S. Lewis' MERE CHRISTIANITY, you will find this equally enlightening. If you have not read MERE CHRISTIANITY, it is a 'must read.'
This book is great. It describes how Satan tempts you in your everyday life and the battle we must face everyday to obey God. It reveals common temptations to distract us from God that I never thought about before. If your a new believer, old believer, or not a believer, the book has imagery that only C.S. Lewis can deliver to tell a wonderful story of daily struggles and what goes on in Satan's realm. The book is not the easiest read for people who are not accustom to C.S. Lewis' writing style, but I still recommend it!
This book is a fictional series of letters from a senior demon (Screwtape) to his nephew (Wormwood) as the younger demon tries to corrupt the soul of an average person so as to send him to hell. In the process Lewis covers many ways people can end up on the wrong path without even realizing it. It will definitely make you think.

The Screwtape Letters is a dialog between 2 demons, one (Screwtape) a novice and the other (Wormwood) the more skilled. The human subjects that have been assigned for temptation and skill development are complete unaware of the drama taking place at their expense. The book is a unique, and very revealing look at how different people yield to different sorts of tempting methods. The frustrations and mis-steps of the novice Screwtape are chronicled and discussed between himself and his mentor, Wormwood. It certainly makes a person think abit about those thoughts we suppose are our own and our judgement when facing certain kinds of pressure. Well worth the time spent reading it.
The book I received is not the version pictured, nor does it correspond with the ISBN. If you need the exact ISBN for a student or otherwise, do not order this one.

It was in better condition than described. It came quickly. I love C. S. Lewis. It is a satirical yet serious book about the way satan tries to tempt people to his side
