Fans rejoin the continuing adventures of gaming's favorite friendly dragon in this 128-bit cross-console adventure. It seems that a rival dragon has hidden a great number of sinister magical objects throughout the Dragon Realms. These "Dark Gems" cast an aura of evil across otherwise safe and sunny areas. In order to set things right once again, players can take the role of Spryo himself, as well as four other distinctively able characters.<br><br>Hunter the cheetah is a master of weapons, while the penguin Sergeant Byrd employs a useful dive-bombing technique. Sparx the dragonfly returns to offer support in this adventure, as does Blink the mole, both sporting new powers and abilities. Spyro also has a few new tricks to help him out of tight spots, including platform talents -- like "wall jump," "tail swing," and "ledge grab" -- and breath attacks, such as Flame, Freeze, Electric, and Water.<br><br>The original Spyro the Dragon was created by Insomniac Games, but Hero's Tail was developed by Eurocom Entertainment and its creative direction carries its own pedigree of successful fantasy comedy. The game's storyline was written by J. Stewart Burns, whose television credits include scripts for Futurama, the Simpsons, and the stuffed bunny sitcom Unhappily Ever After.

    Fun for children and adults

    This is a second round for my teenage children and me with this game. The first one was lost years ago when the original game system died. We've replaced the system and now time for the games.. We all LOVE Spyro. The tasks might be a little difficult for younger children, but really that just makes a great opportunity for mom or dad to join in the fun and lend a hand.. just remember not to get so enthralled that you take over:) Spyro goes on multiple quests and meets multiple other characters (e.g. a frog and a mole). You have the choice to do mini-games within the game as the other characters. As Spyro, you'll learn different moves throughout the game- this is where the difficulty comes in for the younger kiddos. Some of the moves are hard to do and others are just hard to remember ...

    Great Family Game

    I loved Spyro for years, and recently got my 5 year-old Grandson hooked on him as well. He loves this particular version because you don't have to amass lives to make it through the level, Sgt. Byrd is in it, you get to play as 3 different dragons once you beat it, and Daddy helps him through the harder mini-games. Of course, the save glitch was a problem at first, but as long as you manually save at the end of game play, there are no problems with a corrupted save not loading after getting half-way through the game. Now he plays at home, and when he comes here -- we BOTH have this. His sister, who's 3, even gets her turn on a different save, and she can manage the easier tasks without asking for help. The whole family can play this. No one dies, and there's no blood, gore, violence, sex, ...
