Bought this recently to see what the Resistance series was like on PS3 as I treated myself to an old phat style model not long ago to see what a PS3 was like and only owned an Xbox 360 during that generation of games consoles. For a PS3-era game (three generations ago) the graphics are quite good, the story is very interesting and it was brilliant value for a new sealed copy which is extremely hard to come across these days. It's not the best PS3-era game but it's still worthy of any retro gamer's time!

I bought Resistance 2 as I had just played through an finished the previous Resistance Fall of man (RFOM) that I bought in a charity shop for £3, what a bargain of a game, simple but addictive and does get pretty tough in places. R2 is more of the same, maybe graphically improved, some new enemies and different weapons. Now no one likes change, but it is essential for all of us, but the first thing I noticed with this game is that the control system is different, RFOM was far from user friendly at first and this is similar. The main irritaion is that you can only carry 2 weapons at at any time, in RFOM you built up a massive cache of super guns, this became necessary as you ran out of ammo frequently in later levels, so just having two guns to cycle round is a little dull. As with RFOM the premise is unbelievably simple in that you progress through level after linear level reaching checkpoint after checkpoint with the odd cut scene here an there, and these are nowhere near as often and story heavy as RFOM thank goodness, however this lack of story does make you care less about the scenarios and just about progressing through the scenes and blasting everything in sight. I have not got anywhere near finishing this game yet, but it is strangely compelling and it so far keeps me coming back for more as I am sure there will be some challenges ahead. All in all a decent shooter if you get it cheap as its no ground breaker, just honest, simple fun. EggbstardRead full review
I really enjoyed the first game, mainly because of it's simplicity. It didn't want to be more than what it is, which made it pretty enjoyable to play. The story was simple, yet cryptic enough to keep you interested till the end, which came pretty suddenly. So my expectations were pretty high. This second game seems a bit more bland so far. The levels are trying to be more varied and interesting, but they just become inconsistent. To be honest, I got a little bored with it after a few hours and put it aside for later. I'm pretty sure that it was just not the right time. I'm definitely not throwing it away for now.
Fantastic follow up to the original with an unexpected ending...play it to find out.Great shoot em up for those of you bored with the call of duty/medal of honor genres and gives you something to whet your appetite whilst waiting for the 3rd installment!
if you are a fan or resistance: fall of man, then this a game for you, however if you are looking for a great multi-player then this is perhaps not a title for you? gone is the co-op mode of resistance, replaced by a strange multi-player co op instead where you need to choose a class such a soldier or medic. the missions take place alongside the main campaign but have very little to actually do with it. as for the single player, its very much of the same with better looking graphics and improvements to game play with a nice couple of plot twists to keep you interested right to the cliffhanger ending.
