Oxford Diecast now are in charge of the 'Cararama' brand which since conception has specialized in 1:43 Scale and 1:72 Scale vehicle models. During the early 2000s the 'Hongwell Carama' brand first became apparent after which the 1/72 Scale model range was significantly expanded in size / diversity in response to the tendencies and preferences changing within the collectors' market. Certainly by 2006 1:24 and 1:43 Scales were relatively static whereas 1:72 Scale and mostly metal composition appeared to be growing meteorically. A gentle drift away from traditional OO Gauge or 1/76 Scale models was gathering momentum but for 1/87 Scale and all-plastic composition models the bottom was almost certainly falling out of the market! Hence this ever coming about: I have the original 'Cararama' Military Land Rovers x 4 set in this scale from 2005 which is slightly different / minus 1 but nothing dramatic I promise. The sets both feature two different designs of LWB Land Rover: This set being Covered x 2 and Open x 1. Colours-wise the two Covereds maintain their original designs and themes whereas the Open Land Rover has altered from United Nations White to the colours seen here. The 'missing' example from this edition is another 'Covered' in United Nations IFOR White which I of course have. Very much along the lines of Oxford 1/76 Scale models the composition is metal body with plastic underside / fully detailed interior / glazing and rotating wheels amounting to 40% metal : 60% plastic but do NOT let this put you off: The quality is astounding. TEN out of ten!Read full review
