A new illustrated biography of the fossilist Mary Anning is long overdue, and she is finally getting the recognition she merits. She was born in 1799, and her remarkable discoveries revealed a previously unknown world of extinct marine reptiles preserved in the Dorset cliffs, thus turning our knowledge of life on earth on its head.
