I never thought there would be such discrepancies between breadmakers. I had one from Asda for about 6 years and it was on its last legs. The only alternative was a Morphy Richards one currently at Asda so I searched on Ebay and saw in this particular make's description that it was rated highly. To start with the instructions were a bit daunting as I'd been used to a simple menu but I opted for the basic white with a four hour cycle. I'd only used a 3 hr cycle on my old one before and I bake 3/4 white flour to 1/4 wholemeal with various seeds added. My husband has always said it was a bit heavy for him. But I was amazed that with the same ingredients but a longer cycle, how much the bread improved with a beautiful crust and light inside with my Panasonic breadmaker. So it all shows that the machine does make a difference and I'm extremely pleased with it. Whether you need all the programmes is another matter as there was one specifically for multigrain but that was for 5 hours so I risked using the basic which worked fine for me.Read full review
I cannot fault this machine - comes with clear & concise booklet which includes many recipes including gluten free ones - Not all bread makers do! Has performed perfectly over the last 18months use and I would heartily recommend this make & model. This was not the cheapest bread maker but it is so simple & easy to use you cannot go wrong. There is time delay too which means you can wake up to the aroma of fresh bread in the morning. Possibly one gripe and that is that the loaf sizes could be bigger as our family consumes the lot as soon as the loaf is ready.
I bought this machine about four years ago, perhaps more, thinking this will be one of those 'used twice and then put on the shelf buys'. Have used it 4/5 days a week ever since, it even goes on holiday to Scotland with us. So reliable, only thing I have replaced is the blade, twice, just normal wear and tear (8/10 £ a time). Can't recommend it highly enough - its brilliant. Use good flour and you can't go wrong. Buy it! Also it makes a decent size loaf.
Bought this after seeing one in use and tasting the output. Lovely to wake up to the smell and taste of fresh bread in the mornings, using the timer function. Recipes included in the accompanying booklet are worth a try - can vouch for the chelsea buns. Very easy to use and to clean. It is worth the space it takes up on the worktop.
I recently purchased this breadmaker from ebay and I am incredibly pleased with the product. Perfect loaf every time and so so delicious. My aim was to buy secondhand to see if it was a fad of mine, just to make my own bread, but I can honestly say, I have not bought another loaf since!! My intention was to buy a new one but this machine works perfectly and I am reluctant to spend when it is not needed. I have recommended this machine to all my friends and although they have now got breadmakers, they are not Panasonic and the bread does not rise or come out as light as this. Although this is more expensive than others, I would personally pay more for the quality and easiness of the machine. Panasonic all the way for me and YES I will buy a new one when my old faithful lets me down.
