    hidden gem should have more fans!

    That's a bad pun, because the main attraction of the 1400 is that it is fanless and silent - very unusual to have this with some fibre ports. Even though there's no management port, the 1400 is great when you want to make your NAS run fast, because it seems to correctly identify the tuned-up bits of Gig Ethernet, like Jumbo frames and Flow Control, without you having to log into it and set each port by hand. I get over 110MB/sec out of my collection of NASes, going through a 1400G.
