The difference between watching a movie or TV series that's been filmed on location versus a studio lot is night and day, and Naked City delivers the goods! Seeing shots of Times Square, Central Park, Broadway, Yankee Stadium Madison Square Garden (the original) Penn Station (long gone) and many other well known NYC landmarks in their late '50's, early '60's environs is nothing short of awesome. And these scenes are not just some cheap stock shots thrown in to "authenticate" the show; the MAJORITY of the action takes place with exterior shooting, with most episodes having less interior shots. And the plots of the shows are even surprisingly good, too. As for the picture quality, it's excellent with the exception of ONLY a handful (5 or 6) of the episodes from the first season, which probably couldn't be remastered for loss of the original negative (or something). While rough, they're hardly unviewable. So, if you enjoy watching "time capsule" stuff like this, I highly recommend to you "Naked City"! Read full review

I would have expected, from the price of this set, that the video quality would have been MUCH better! Actually a little disappointing. When METV Chicago Channel 23 showed these reruns on their station, their televised copies were A LOT better than this set! I don't know why, in this day and age, we have to spit out substandard dvds to turn a buck, when the technology is there to do it RIGHT! Too bad. The price, apparently, is all in the "packaging"! It is packaged and set up well, graphics, etc. just really disappointing video quality....and, NO, it is not due to the age of the show, it's ALL in the poor copying, or use of poor "masters". I've seen much, much better on tv. Bottom line....this looks like a bad copy, of a bad copy!

One of the best TV Noire shows ever, especially if you are a New Yorker seeing the city as it was when these episodes were filmed. The DVD interface is hard to navigate and it's hard to stop an episode and then go back later to where you left off. Images are not as sharp as they should/could be. Unfortunately it's not BluRay or part of the Criterion Collection. Maybe in the future.

Good series i e the ones that were watchable. Most discs looked marred which on some episodes caused skipping and freezing and made them unwatchable

Inspired by "Route 66", I wanted to experience more of Stirling Silliphant's and Herbert Leonard's work. I miss Tod & Buz & Linc, but the spirit and feeling of this time of American history is rich and meaningful. Also, Nancy Malone is a delightful beauty appearing as Detective Adam Flint girl friend regularly. Love that FACE!!
