    awesome

I have listened to this soundtrack more than 200 times and it is still as awesome as when I first listened to it in 1978 as a 14 year old back then on the 2 record set.

  • The soundtrack album that helped define an era!

Sometimes, one thing in your life happens that seems to change evrything else around you. Such is the case with "Saturday Night Fever: Original Motion Picture Sountrack". When it was first released as a double-disc vinyl record set in November 1977, it came out around the same time as the movie did to theaters. It would eventually go on to become the best-selling album of all time for nearly 7 years. This album has been certified platinum 15 times by the RIAA. The songs included in this soundtrack release are synonymous with the era which it represents. David Shire composed and adapted 3 tracks for this collection, while fellow instrumentalist Ralph McDonald provided "Calypso Breakdown". Kool And The Gang are heard performing "Open Sesame". MFSB of "TSOP" fame had the song "K-Jee". The ...

  • Disco Still Lives

I know..."disco sucks," right? Not really. I teach a music appreciation class for the local community college and this is great. If for nothing else it is a great set of musical examples of what was the "in" thing during the late 70's. The remastered CD adds a little more depth to the sounds I remember on the cassette. It may be due to the fact that I played the tape so much when I was younger, but the lyrics were always a bit understated. In the remeastered version, everything is extremely clear. The instrumental numbers have a better sound than I remember the original having. The "Fifth of Beethoven," and "Night on Disco Mountain," are great examples of recycling music from another era (Classical and Romantic)and how they were brought to public attention years after the ...

  • Stayin' Alive for sure

  • dance

I bought the Saturday Night Fever Soundtrack for fun dance and party music. I was really impressed with the quality of the recording and how clear it was on a cd since the original soundtrack was recorded on a vinyl. I can always get the crowd up dancing and singing to good old dance music. If someone wants to have a high quality "older" soundtrack I highly recommend this to anyone and the price was a great value.
