      Good product for a good price

      This (s)trimmer has useful and easy to use features. The repositionable front handle is much better and easier to move than my previous one. The moveable cutting head is great and each movement works well. My only criticism is the ergonomics of the trigger handle. It becomes very difficult to work continuously because it's awkward to hold the trigger 'on' since it moves - and turns on - at the front of the trigger rather than the back. Bit difficult to explain, but it makes my hand ache and it really shouldn't!

      A Switch problem

      The safety lock and switch are a nightmare. The slightest easing of pressure on the switch and the machine turns off so the safety lock has to be pressed - over - and over - and over during a cut.. There is no way to override the safety lock. My old and faithful Power Trim 500 was so much more user friendly and I wish I had never bought this new one. It looks good, the handle adjustment is good, the edging roller is good, the head angle adjustment is good. The problem is how to keep it going as you use it because of that blasted switch!

      Good value for money and works well

      Looked and worked as if brand new. A little difficult to assemble as instructions with diagrams were small. I haven't used a strimmer before, so found it difficult at first to hold it level and get an even cut. Good value as price included delivery, which was quick.

      Disappointing experience

      I did plenty of research and decided the 500E strimmer would be right for me. I got a competitive price on line, super quick free delivery but that was about it for the good points. It was easy enough to assemble but the first problem was the height adjuster that was, and still is locked solid. I am a fairly strong guy but I cant budge it. Then on my first trial run I found that the auto feed system wasn't working. I pulled out the spool and rewound the line as instructed but it still doesn't work. I can still use the machine but it would be better if everything works as it should. I guess I've been unlucky and bought a bad one.

      Prefer previous model

      Preferred the previous Flymo power trim. It was lighter to use and more flexible and did exactly the same job. The new one seems to be more cumbersome, heavier the handle switch is stiffer. May get used to it but a bit disappointed.
