Synopsis
Filmmaker David Lynch asserts that when he is directing, ninety percent of the time he doesn't know what he is doing. To understand Lynch's films, Martha Nochimson believes, requires a similar method of being open to the subconscious, of resisting the logical reductiveness of language. In this innovative book, she draws on these strategies to offer close readings of Lynch's films, informed by unprecedented, in-depth interviews with Lynch himself. Nochimson begins with a look at Lynch's visual influences--Jackson Pollock, Francis Bacon, and Edward Hopper--and his links to Alfred Hitchcock and Orson Welles, then moves into the heart of her study, in-depth analyses of Lynch's films and television productions. These include Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me, Wild at Heart, Twin Peaks, Blue Velvet, Dune, The Elephant Man, Eraserhead, The Grandmother, The Alphabet , and Lynch's most recent, Lost Highway . Nochimson's interpretations explode previous misconceptions of Lynch as a deviant filmmaker and misogynist. Instead, she shows how he subverts traditional Hollywood gender roles to offer an optimistic view that love and human connection are really possible., Filmmaker David Lynch asserts that when he is directing, ninety percent of the time he doesn't know what he is doing. - e***e (657)- Feedback left by buyer.Past 6 monthsVerified purchaseItem as described, well packaged, great price, unfortunately it took 9 days to arrive from stated dispatch date and seller didn’t respond to my request to investigate why tracking was still showing it as awaiting dispatch for a number of days.
- e***d (17)- Feedback left by buyer.Past 6 monthsVerified purchaseItem arrived earlier than expected, long delivery time but isn’t necessarily the sellers fault only standard shipping available. Item decently packaged could have been more securely packaged though. Good price compared to other marketplaces and sellers. I cannot comment on the seller’s communication as I did not contact the seller. Overall good experience only complaint would be delivery time but again this isn’t solely the sellers fault.
- n***w (3)- Feedback left by buyer.Past 6 monthsVerified purchaseItem arrived on time and was packaged well. The item was exactly as advertised and was amazing value compared to other places. The seller was also incredibly speedy at replying to my enquiries. Although it was not the fault of the seller (the packaging used to send the item was more than sufficient), my figure did have a manufacturing defect (the left hand was broken off). Thankfully superglue put it back in place and no one can tell it was broken.Ichibansho Figure Dragon Ball Demon Piccolo Daimaoh(Ex Mystical Adventure) (#375870724809)
