SynopsisWhen legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanity's resources for years. To combat the giant Kaiju, a special weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are piloted by an international crew of soldiers in the Pan Pacific Defense Corps. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju. On the verge of defeat, two unlikely heroes--a washed up former pilot and an untested trainee--team up to pilot a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger on a mission to halt the mounting apocalypse., From acclaimed filmmaker Guillermo del Toro comes Warner Bros. Great Book, wish there was more, but Sticky Gunk in a Couple Pages
The book was everything I wanted, but there were some sticky parts in the pages, as I bought it secondhand. I can't tell if this is leftover from a slip of paper that used to be glued on the page (there are "loose-leaf" sketchbook drawings stuck on some of the book's pages, cool little feature). The glue/gunk was sticky, dark yellow, looked like glue, but could've been food for all I know. But yeah, I guess the glue might look a little crusty if you bend the little sketchbook pages back enough. Just ignore it!
I definitely wish it was more expansive content-wise. I wanted to see everything detailed out, costumes, props, creatures. It is sort of a basic collection of concept art. But it's not a huge book, and for its size, it's a nice amount of material. This book has drawings from some big names, including Allen Williams, who is an excellent artist you can follow on instagram.
