    Not a lot of choice

    As it’s just about the only plastic kit for a girder bridge that is available I guess it has to be described as good to excellent. The kit itself is ok considering the tooling is 50 odd years old. There are casting marks that will need filling but luckily some of them are partly masked by other pieces. One problem I found was that some parts end up warped (as discussed in the instructions), this does make construction a little more interesting but follow the instructions and all will be well. As this is a modular bridge kit it can be built into a longer span by adding more kits, I used four in total and the result was reasonably rigid but will need plenty of support before a loco can be run over it.

    Dapol girder bridge kit

    A great, old, standby, very versatile kit, with loads of kit bashing potential. I have been using this kit for years, since Airfix first released it. In many different forms it has been a staple of my model railways for as long as I can remember. Somewhat dated by today's 'laser cut' standards, it IS STILL A GREAT KIT.

    Old but still relevant

    Basically a 50+ year-0ld Airfix design, this cheap kit remains persuasive on modern layouts. Maybe a bit less detailed than modern kits, but strong, cleanly moulded, 'bashable' and authentic in appearance. Very easy to assemble and suitable for beginners.

    Bridge building

    I bought two kits, the first kit was fine. The second kit was warped. Unfortunately most of the straight pieces were bent / curved and it took for ever to assemble the bridge and then some trying to straighten pieces out. The kit is good and fits well together.
