This is a great product I used it to fix my elderly father's cracked plastic rear bumper saving him from having to take is care to a local body shop to have it removed and having a new one painted and installed on his car. It worked really well and the repair I made is holding really well and is very durable I could not believe that it is possible to weld plastic together. I highly recommend it. This product I just purchased is of very good quality and was very easy to work with. Also there are plenty of youtube videos available on how to use it.

Purchased this to repair a plastic piece on a car. The unit end bent on use and broke during the repair. I was particularly shocked because it was a metal piece. I would strongly advise against purchasing this unit. I seldom leave reviews but this product was so inadequate I had to leave a review.

This is a really handy tool - I bought it to work on an ABS dash panel on my skidsteer, but thanks to an emergency I got to use it on my dryer trim ring first. I broke a couple of metal clips off the ring trying to fix my dryer in the middle of my wife's Saturday washing marathon. My wife was none too happy we me doing damage instead of fixing it and when I saw the $175 dollar replacement cost I wasn't thrilled either - so I tried to reattach the clips using this welder. It worked like a charm! The dryer is fixed, my wife is ok with me buying more "specialized" tools like this, and my dash panel is finally looking sweet too. Pretty good work for a little iron! (On the practical side, the unique head design makes it easy to build up, move, and shape hot plastic significantly better than a soldering or wood burning iron. The wattage is about as hot as you would want to go for plastic welding, and the stand, while simple, really holds the iron in place and keeps it from burning your work bench or body - I have more expensive ones that seem to be designed to throw the iron at you when your back is turned.) I used it to repair a cracked home generator plastic gas tank I could not get a replacement for .Had tried to seal it with various types of sealers and would not work, It takes a little practice to get the hang of it.since the plastic material does not liquefy and flow into cracks like tin solder.For this reason it is important to heat and melt the crack with the iron as you heat and apply the plastic welding rods

I wouldn't rate it top quality, but it's okay, and works. screws were loose, and you can feel a loose jiggle feel when you shake it, but it seems to work great. all pictured is included. have used the rod and it works.
