I was told basically 'no one else has complained' to justify being sent the wrong item. In the end they tried to get me to return the item outside of the eBay returns option. I went through eBay and got a full refund. The seller needs to offer a better service, stand by their products and rectify their mistakes correctly. Luckily I didn't make a bulk purchase.
