I picked this up after rave reviews from so many ppl. I was not disappointed. HOWEVER - be advised, if your previous beater was plastic or wood to get the 'click' from your old mic, this mic will deliver great click with firm felt. Really, it's EQ'd for easy recording or live use of your kit. Amazing product with perfect thump, too.

Most everyone considers the Shure Beta 52 the go to kick drum mic. I've used one myself, but there is a certain sound I wanted with the kick that I could never manage to dial in with the Shure Beta 52. So, I went shopping and I came across an awesome deal on an EV ND868 and pulled the trigger. I was very impressed with this EQ'd mic and it sounded awesome without any real adjustments. More importantly, it has the kick drum sound I like. I'd recommend this mic to anyone I come across needing to mic a kick drum for live or studio recording.

After trying a few different mics, this is the one that captured my kick drum and floor toms the way I hear them in the room. Surprisingly, it also sounds good as a voiceover mic if you roll off some of the lows.

I had read favorable reviews about the N/D868 and purchased two--one for my kick and one for my floor tom. I couldn't be happier! I have found that EV mics are quite versatile and pleasing for both live and recording settings.
Very prompt shipping. Product arrived several days before estimated date. Would buy from again.
