I had a Z3 Compact previously which was by far the best small phone of its generation and the Z5 Compact is simply the next step. There isn't a huge difference to the Z3C but the fingerprint sensor is simply excellent both in accuracy and placement. Since Sony's latest compact is a bit half baked and nobody else makes a decent smaller phone the Z5 Compact is the one to have as shown by how difficult it is to get hold of a good one.

Both on screen & the case shutter button didn't work with the main rearward facing camera. Picture quality was terrible on lower light shots with it refusing to focus. My old 7 mpxl Windows based Nokia 735 far out performed the allegedly 23mpxl lense on this phone. Very disappointed with it as a whole. No wonder they pulled it from sale in the shops within a few months of launching it. My son encountered this when they were first released & was steered towards a slightly different model by the shop.

This is my first proper Smartphone - due to the problems with battery life. I am not a heavy phone user and do not use the Internet or 'smart' features that much, which means the battery lasts a week. Easy to use and find features on the Android system. I suppose this is compact in comparison to other Smartphones, but I would have preferred a smaller screen. Have had no problems with the phone at all. Going by other excellent reviews, I agree that this is a great phone in a small package.

For a used phone it came in excellent condition, the only evidence of a previous owner was one small dent on a corner which cannot be noticed when the phone is in a case. Other then that you would not really know the phone was used. The battery life of the phone, which I expected to be shorter than a new phone, lasts me about two days of reasonable use (regular texts, location on, bluetooth use and the odd bit of youtube) which I am very happy with. All other features work excellently. The phone is also a great size; it is small enough to use fully with one hand but big enough to watch videos, read articles and use apps fine. I previously had a Sumsung S5 and I notice no difference other than it being easier to use in the hand and more comfortable in the pocket. Signal and wifi connectivity are all good. I'm no mobile photographer but the camera is more than adequate for what I use it for.Read full review

Despite really, really good specs for a compact phone (the reason I bought it), I just can't get over the poor Sony interface (skin). I've swapped out bits for Google's own but still find it a bit "bloated". I've come from HTC which is so much better. Also, too square, doesn't feel entirely comfortable in my hand. That said... it's still the best "compact" and it looks like Sony have "gone native" with Nougat (Android 7, soon to arrive to Z5s) so my only gripe is that it could do with curved corners. 8.5/10
