I bought my pair of Leica M3 bodies in 2007 following a substantial legacy. The first one was a 1955 double stroke followed by a single stroke 1960 body. Lenses bought were the 50mm f2.8, 90mm f2.8 and the 135mm f4.5. These three lenses correspond with the frames in the viewfinder, the 50mm is constant. The 90 and 135 appear upon inserting the other two lenses. And in 2022 I’m still using them. No faults, no issues, repairs or servicing. A truly great camera - well worth the investment. Won’t ever lose its value. Don’t skimp on lenses once you have it though.

A stunning classic - and different to the M2,4,5 and 6 - well worth seeking out. I can understand why they go for more.

The Leica M3 is possibly the best conceived and built all mechanical, non electronic 35mm film camera ever made. Even if you get a scratched worn and battered example they are still mainly repairable by a variety of service technicians, and capable of being brought back into service as a smooth working precise instrument. Some of the worlds most famous and iconic photographs were taken using Leica M3s, or earlier and later Leica cameras. (This is probably because the best photographers chose the best cameras!) The Leica M3 I bought here on Ebay is simply superb, smoth as silk and a pleasure to use!
