About this product

Product Information

Director John Carpenter's second film is a brutal, realistic story about the siege of a small police precinct by a violent and well-armed gang. The gang is seeking the man who killed some of their members in revenge for the accidental shooting of his daughter. After the father enacts his revenge, he wanders to the police precinct in a distraught state. The poorly manned precinct is being phased out of use and is unprepared for the relentless assult which ensues. The violence in ASSAULT ON PRECINCT 13 was shocking for its time and has remained so over the years since its release, mainly due to the stark, unaffected direction of a young Carpenter. Inspired by the cowboys-and-Indians movies Carpenter watched as a boy, the film is more than just an action movie, as it shows the desperation and courage of people living in a violent society. Produced with a modest budget and without Hollywood backing, ASSAULT ON PRECINCT 13 is a fine example of how a powerful film can be made with limited resources.

The item was precisely as described (Central TV region) and in fantastic condition. Packaging was certainly strong enough to withstand the worst the postal system could throw at it. Arrived in good time too. I'm pleased with how it all went, so thank you for the excellent service.

  • LAs deadliest street gang just declared war on the cops

Assault on Precinct 13 is a 1976 action / thriller movie, directed by John Carpenter. It is an homage to the 1959 film Rio Bravo by Howard Hawks. It is considered by many to be one of the greatest exploitation films ever made. Plot Outline: The lone inhabitants of an abandoned police station are under attack by the overwhelming numbers of a seemingly unstoppable street gang. This is rightly considered a classic cult movie from the 1970's by the once reliable John Carpenter (who also composed the edgy early synth score). Basically it's a faint mish-mash of other movies, the dialogue is reminiscent of great westerns as a black policeman and a white convict battle against gang members in a Night of The Living Dead re-working. It's also tempting to draw Vietnam allegories (as with many ...

  • Assault on Precinct 13 (1975)

I like the original Assault on Precinct 13 because it is a disassociation from the rules, regulations and bureaucracy this society has, which stifle the simple life we all try to lead. I liken it to the single-mindedness of Terminator! Put yourself in the position of any of the main characters and it becomes quite understandable, exciting and rebellious. I bought this as it reminds me there are still wastefull acts which people believe in. A reminder that people get sick of struggling to live, day after day, in a society strangled by too many rules, lack of justice, political correctness and lack of wealth.

John Carpenter at his very best. This film is in my top 10 of all time.I've loved this film for years. there is a superb blend of shock and humour and a haunting score performed by carpenter himself.fantastic
