Halti head collar!.
I have had my choc lab in a similar style devive for years, it never really worked well but would allow me to hold him securely when he decided that either a motorbike, other dog or passing cyclist needed to be sorted out!. I looked through ebays offerings and did a little research, finally deciding on the Halti as from my horse riding days this was precisely how you control a horse and i figured it would work the same way(only concern i had was him slipping the lead, so i kept a choke chain on also(which was unseeded)). From the moment that we started to walk he was like a different dog, no pulling he just walked at my side. If he occasionally got ahead the halti would bring him back to heel without me having to do anything, wonderful!. My dog was attacked by a staffie type dog when he ... My dog was attacked by a staffie type dog when he was a pup, this has made him be somewhat defensive when he sees another dog(this is usually a horrible type of experience whete its a fight to hold and control him). We experienced 2 other dogs and this would normally be enough to trigger a violent response from him. We still had the usual growling and barking but the episode was 80% less than usual and easily managed and quickly forgotten. The halti gave me so much confidence that i allowed my son(17) to lead and walk him, he was shocked at the difference in him on the very 1st walk and shared the same views of how much more pleasent the walk was. I am honestly shocked at just how good this collar is and just how well it works to correct pulling, all without any intervention from me.i hope it will continue to work over time, that remains to be seen, but to say im wildly impressed is the understatement of the year!.

It has not arrived yet but the site is misleading. It suggests you have a choice of many colours but when I wanted size2 I had a choice of red or black only! I looked at all the other sizes and none of them offered all the choices! So I ordered red as I don't want black. It was the cheapest I could find so as long as you don't want much choice worth looking at. I ordered because my halti which is very old finally snapped and I could not take my dog out without it. Presume it will be usual halti quality but will wait and seeIt has not arrived yet but the site is misleading. Best product by far!
Although at the moment the size 3 Halti head collar is just a little too big for Ellie (ESS) I currently use a size 2 Halti which is an absolute Godsend and certainly does the job! Ellie is fast outgrowing the size 2 and the size 3 was bought in readiness because it's a pure joy to take her out walking without the pulling! I have tried a collar, a harness (2 types) and a figure of 8 head collar - none of these worked but the Halti did!Although at the moment the size 3 Halti head collar is just a little too big for Ellie (ESS) I currently use a size 2 Halti which is an absolute Godsend and certainly does the job! This collar worked absolutely fine!
Really good and effective way of controlling our young Labrador who kept pulling on his leash. Only slight criticism is the looseness of the strap that goes around his mouth. Some sort of shortening clip would help it.
