      These work very well when strategically placed

      easy enough to assemble but they really need to be glued together and then fastened down securely. I zap strapped them to the railing around my deck. There's not enough in a package to go all the way around but those placed at the corners where the birds used to gather and poop seems to keep them off the rest of the rail. I'm not sure yet if they'll continue to work as well when spring and summer comes around next year but so far, they're working like magic. Do note that you need to fasten 2 linear feet together so 10 linear feet yields only 5 feet worth of usable material.

      Worked as Desired

      Based on other reviews, here and elsewhere, I was unsure whether this would work for me or not. I had small birds nesting on a high ledge above the front porch that were messing up the porch floor every night. I tried a rubber snake to scare them. I worked for a while but the birds finally just slept on the snake. The plastic spikes have kept them away. I had a nearby ledge that I thought I might have to spike, but the birds have seemed to get the message to go elsewhere without further installation. I used duct tape overnight to hold the spikes in place while the glue set up. That worked OK. The spikes are almost invisible unless one knows where to look.

      To glue or not to glue!

      This is a great product if you want to install it with the silicone glue. However, the description states pre-drilled holes. The product does not have pre-drilled holes and therefore you can't install with small tack nails. It appears that if you double up the product side by side that the molded slots would form an area to provide a nailing media. OK if you have enough width where you want to locate the spikes. less than 3 inches forget it. If you don't your stuck unless you drill your own holes in the polycarbonate base. Tricky on the more narrow side of the 1 ft strip. Basically , I expect the product will work well and last. Time will tell. So if you want to glue its a... happy face.. if you are planning to tack nail ....it's a frown. Bye bye birds.
