Good quality coated discs but pad shims not so good
I’ve been fitting Mintex brakes for years which are as good as OEM parts and less than half the price. However, I was a little disappointed with the clip-on pad shims which can easily be dislodged when refitting the caliper (ensuring the piston is fully wound back does help though!) Other brands have locating pins to prevent this. Also, only one pad is fitted with an acoustic wear indicator i.e. one wear indicator per axle as detailed on the Mintex website. This is all well and good if both sides wear evenly but the side without the wear indicator could potentially wear down below spec without any advance warning. Finally, while not all brands provide new caliper bolts, why do Mintex only supply two bolts when four are fitted? Despite these gripes I wouldn’t hesitate to buy again.
