Works perfectly on Canon 7D Mark 2. had to update firmware on camera to set up since I just bought camera and it was not on latest version yet, but was super easy to update and set up after that and connects with my phone and tablet perfectly. can view all my pictures and download them right to phone :) if you want to use SD cards for your memory though, I recommend an SD to CF 1 adapter (for 7D Mark 2) since this takes up the SD card slot.. just if you don't want to pay the extra for CF cards regularly and leave this accessory in all the time.

It is not a 'plug & play'. You load an app on your mobile device, or a program on your desktop, then configure the camera, then pair the camera to your computer/mobile, then hope it all has connected so you can download or view your photos. When it doesn't work (about 30% of the time), start over and try again. Its not something I would count on reliably or quickly working in the field. For me, its been more of a 'review later in the car' use. The wifi adapter spends a lot of time in my kit bag and not in the camera.

The card add to camera Wi-Fi possibilities: remote control and wireless picture downloading. Works perfect, but speed of wireless downloading significantly lower then thru USB3 cable. Remote control not fast as well, especially when LiveView mode is active. Cable connection to the PC unavailable, when the card installed to camera. So I think, it may be useful, if you really need remote control to your camera or haven't PC and just want transfer the photo to smartphone.

Users have to evaluate if they want to give up the SD slot in their 7D or other qualifying camera. If you shoot RAW you may prefer to have two formats. This device eliminates one. As for the Wi-Fi adapter, it does work (after some study and proper configuration). It uses EOS Utility software very similarly to using a cable plugged into your camera. The connection works OK from as much distance as your internet connection permits. I appreciate the reasonable price and the potential for unique applications. But for casual shooters like me I'll probably preserve the SD slot for writing JPEG files.

Super helpful for getting wi-fi for the Canon 7D Mark II. It's fast and easy to rename the access point as you want, and connecting to a phone or tablet is easy. The only downside is that you have to use your wi-fi signal to connect, so it turns off your wi-fi on your device while you're controlling the camera or downloading photos.

The card works as described and expected but as many other have reported, the wifi will occasionally and randomly disconnect which is a PITA when it happens at the worst time. Knowing this, I would still make the purchase but Canon needs to put more effort into fixing this issue.

It takes a little to get used to the app and utilizing the new capabilities but once everything is installed correctly it’s very easy to use

The W-E1 WiFi adaptor is an SD card transmitter that allows my 5DS R to connect to my phone/tablet/laptop. It is not the fault of the product or the camera, just a note to consider, with the W-E1 installed in the camera USB connection to a computer will not work. If you want to download photos via USB you must remove the W-E1 and close the storage door
