I initially asked this seller if they sold the ballast seperate but they quickly responded advising they only sold the full units. So I brought a full unit and it arrived quickly and in perfect condition. One thing worth mentioning is the description says "Takes 28W 4 pin TC-DD 2D lamp (not supplied)" but with my order there was a lamp/bulb provided.. so maybe this needs updating or clarifying with the seller. Otherwise great service and kit, thanks.

Great for Compatibility and Adjustability.
I bought this because we switched our halogen downlights for Samsung MR16 LEDs as we want to save money on bills. Our standard dimmer wasn't working with the new dimmable LED lights, it seems we needed an LED dimmer (like this one). It works with our LED lights, it isn't perfect but this could be down to compatibility between our older drivers and our new LED downlights. I haven't checked to see if the alternative modes are any better because after tweaking the on/off adjustment we got to the point that it dims the lights sufficiently for our needs. It may work better in one of the other two modes, I haven't tried. I had to take the switches off the plate in order to wire them and when I screwed them back I felt the thread on one of the switch strip slightly as I tightened the nut so ... I'm normally pretty careful about this kind of thing but perhaps the quality could be marginally improved or maybe it would be better if the nuts were plastic, plastic on plastic rather than metal nuts on plastic thread. Even though it's a white plastic one it doesn't seem to have have quite as good a finish as older ones. However the good thing is that I managed to use our existing bronze coloured faceplate and button covers from the old dimmer - all the parts seem to be standard sizes. I got this particular one because I was concerned about compatibility with our old drivers and this one has different modes and the dimming on/off points can be adjusted/programmed via a combination of button presses and twists as per the instruction manual. I wasn't sure if it was going to work with our installation but it does and has solved our dimming problem with our new Samsung LEDs. I still thoroughly recommend this product because of its compatibility. Just be careful not to over tighten the nuts. It seems expensive but then all LED dimmers are more expensive than the standard dimmers. Anyway with all its functionality the price seems reasonable.
