    iPad 3 Delivers

    Five years ago I paid an exorbitant $A1000 for an iPad 1 with 64GB and 3G. At the time it was a very pleasing product, so much so that within a year I had to buy another one for my wife. Lucky to score one very similar for $500 on ebay. Later again, got one for the MIL for $250. This tells a story. The iPad 1 was, over time, less able to do all the things it did when we started out. It couldn't take all the later apps, and some busy websites (often newspaper sites) were slow to load. It remained useful, but not really satisfactory. So if you are considering getting a secondhand iPad with good cost/capability balance, go for the 3. It has much improved processing power, will take lastest apps, and has the retina screen. You can get the nice magnetically attached covers very cheaply too, ...

    Cheap but good

    It's cheap, takes a long time to charge and heats up using it for longer than 10 minutes. Otherwise screen is good and works well.
