Directed by prolific Mexican filmmaker Raul de Anda and starring his son Rodolfo, LA LEYENDA DEL BANDIDO (THE BANDIT'S LEGEND) is based on the true story of Mexican revolutionary Benito Canales. Canales has been the subject of a number of films and folk songs, all of which mythologize his life in some way. In this film, Canales leaves behind the woman he loves in order to fight during the Mexican Civil War against the Federales. He is praised for his efforts during the war, and returns home to marry his love. But when he learns about a nearby ambush and skirmish, he must make a fateful decision to either stay with his new wife or return to the battlefield to help save his friends. LA LEYENDA DEL BANDIDO is a tale of romance and valor during the Mexican Civil War.
