There are tutorial videos showing the general set up procedure of this style of meter. when you have finished setting it up quickly disconnect and reconnect from the power to save your settings. Very helpful being able to see the % and voltage at the same time. To leave the display permanently on, the backlight setting needs to be set to off. Yes, I know it makes no sense. It is what it is :)
