A stylish clamp with a pleasing aesthetic.
I had been looking to buy a phone clamp to increase the potential usefulness of my phone when out and about, although I usually shoot with an Olympus EM-1 Mk 1. Having bought Manfrotto products before, I was contemplating buying the cheaper spring-loaded version, not least because of reviews that indicated a problem with camera wobble with this model. Coming across the metallic TwistGrip model at this price point, I elected to pay slightly more and take the risk. I can report that it is a very nice bit of kit. It is sleek and metallic, with a very satisfying twist action. In its straightened form it is very easy to stow in a pocket or camera bag. It is well finished, and looks to be highly durable, promising trouble-free years of use. The extended 5-year guarantee available online suggests ... The rubber grip of the jaws protects the phone from damage. The rubber grips are raked at a slight angle, with the added security of a vertical small rubber lip to help prevent any forward slippage of the phone from the clamp. Because of the nature of the twist mechanism, there is indeed a small amount of potential wobble built into the design, but I have not found this to be an issue in use, and it has provided a stable platform for photography use. It has only one mounting point, which will limit its use to landscape rather than portrait mode for many users in the absence of a flexible tripod head. As the clamp is designed to grip the sides rather than the top/bottom of the phone, I am not sure whether I would want to risk using the clamp in portrait mode anyway, as I would be apprehensive about my phone sliding out.

Works as it should
Nice and simple piece of kit, fits an iPhone XR with case in landscape orientation and screws easily into any tripod head. The phone is held nice and steady and the rubberised grips mean there’s no damage to the phone itself.
