    Blendtec rugged or not

    Good product, company forces buyers to go through a distributor and there is where prices vary. For a time they would repair blender cups, usually it is the bearing that goes, if you run it through dish washers, sooner than later the greese in the bearing goes because of the intense heat of dishwashers. Also, now they will repair motor bases for under 300 bucks. Their competition is Vita Mix, another good product. I like Vita Mix ( I have both) because it has variable speeds, manually controlled. Also, the best Blentec is twice as much as a Vita MIx. I use Bentec and Vita Mix at my juice bar but Vita Mix at home. My thought is Vita MIx gives more bang for your buck. My Vita MIx outlasts Blendtec.
