About this product

Product Information

Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions is an expansion of the popular Final Fantasy Tactics brand. This expansion is available only on the Sony PlayStation Portable (PSP) system. This Final Fantasy Tactics game for the PSP allows you to take on the role of two friends, Delita Heiral and Ramza Beoulve, on a quest to save the princess. The friends work their way through a huge storyline with acres of land to explore, and battle against many enemies. The story starts with the War of the Lions, a conflict that occurred due to the death of King Ondorria, Lord of Ivalice. In the game, you use both your characters and additional battle units to defeat your enemies and ultimately to defeat the villain of the story, Lucavi. This tactical strategy game will challenge you and draw you through a combination of amazing gameplay and challenging battles. Choose from 22 different career paths including samurai, arithmetician, knight, and samurai. One of the most exciting aspects of Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions by Square Enix is the multiplayer content. You not only face adventures and battles in the main portion of the game, but you are also able to battle friends through an ad hoc connection or fight them through a series of quests obtained from the Tavernmaster. As you work your way through War of the Lions, you meet a variety of characters from other Final Fantasy titles. These unexpected meetings are fun and remind you of other titles you’ve played. If you haven’t played other Final Fantasy Tactics or Final Fantasy games, you’re missing out. Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions by Square Enix can be an introduction to a whole new world of fantasy gaming. As you advance through the story, you are able to purchase a variety of skills and abilities to help your characters and your party. These abilities allow you to more effectively fight your enemies and gain experience and advancement in your chosen career. The multiplayer aspect is also a great deal of fun, and it makes Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions unique compared to other Final Fantasy titles. This game will take time to complete, but playing the game full to the end is important for any adventurer. You won’t want to quit playing until you’ve defeated the final monster and completed the last quest. The role-playing story is excellent, and you can play the game again and again simply by choosing different career paths. You’ll have a new story every time. This Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions version for Sony PSP is in English and allows you to play never-before-seen cinematic sequences. It’s an incredible addition to the Final Fantasy universe and a must-have item for any serious fantasy gamer. Use the PSP and Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions to complete adventures and quests, battle your friends, and defeat the evil Lucavi once and for all.

  • FFT with a few new things.

Final Fantasy Tactics is definitely one of the best strategy RPGs ever. It's extremely well-made, it poses a decent challenge, the storyline is amazing and, for the time, it has very good effects and animation. So, this PSP port is quite good as well! You just have to get used to the fact that the script is completely redone; there are some character name changes, item changes and skill name changes... They're just details in my opinion but there are a few people out there that think some lines from the dialogue shouldn't have been completely redone or even omitted. Also, they added Cell Shaded cutscenes that are voiced over in the NA version. This is a great touch to the storyline and they look really nice. The voice acting is decent too. On top of all this, they added two new job ...

  • Great for newcomers, but may disappoint hardcore fans

With FFT as one of my most favorite games of all time, naturally my expectations were quite high for the PSP remake. I found it to be a mixed bag. Things I liked: -New translation, which fixes a lot of errors and sounds more believable with the context, as well as seems more consistent. -Extra game content, including beautifully rendered 3D cutscenes, two new job classes, and some story scenes. Things I disliked: -EXTREMELY noticeable slowdown during certain unit attack animations. For gamers that have played the original, this may be a dealbreaker. There is absolutely no excuse for Square to have coded the game so poorly. The slowdown is immense and adversely affected my enjoyment of the game. -Some parts of the new translation, such as renaming practically every character and town. ...

  • Just like I remembered, and then some.

If you ever played Final Fantasy Tactics on the original Playstation, you're already familiar with this title. I tossed it in my PSP last night and took it for a spin. Recalling my previous experience with the original Tactics, I noticed quite a few differences with the PSP version that began as the Intro/Title Card ran. The CGI intro from the PS1 was replaced with a nice animation (with a neat film-grain effect filter) - with full voice-overs nonetheless. The translation also seems to be so much better; while it's been a while since I played the original, I'm pretty certain that the character dialogue has been improved upon. With a story as overarching and (at times) as convoluted as Tactics can be, it's good to have a finer polish on the narrative. I'm only about an hour or so into my ...

  • The Classic Tactic Game, Transitioned to New Heights

Originally from Playstation 1, this game was highly-acclaimed and hailed as an instant classic! The PSP version shows much brilliance like the first, yet a few flaws hinders it to become the ultimate PSP tactic game; The sound was not as crystal as its predecessor. For instance, some of the special attack effects was greatly reduced for the sake of compression. The visuals were a bit blurry, which was similar to Valkyrie Profile for PSP; Their PS1 versions were much clearer in sounds and visuals. Also, the game tends to lag when chanting great spells and initiating a special attack. At times, I begin to ponder that this game is made for the new and slim PSP version than the old PSP system... but do not be disheartened, for the game is decent enough as it is to cloud the flaws it has. ...

  • Welcome to the Ivalice Alliance...

I really am a huge fan of the Final Fantasy series. There is a lot to offer. When I first played FF Tactics (the beginning of the "Ivalice series"... a series in a series)I had to say I was disappointed and yet was still found entertained. FFT's dialogue was sloppy and it was clear that little was done to correct it. The battle system had a steep learning curve and little of the FF elements I grew to love were present. FF: War of the Lions has cleaner dialogue. The political intrigue is quite something. But the learning curve is still rather steep if you're not fimiliar with FFT and FFT-Advanced. The characters seem to blend in with one another and it's at time difficult to distinguish them; but the menu offers the chance to review important cutscenes. Sadly, one of the most important FF ...
