About this product

Product Information

Set on Mars in the year 2071, COWBOY BEBOP: THE MOVIE is based on the much-loved animated television series by Japanese director Shinichiro Watanabe. (The show airs on the Cartoon Network in the U.S.) As the film begins, Spike (Steven Jay Blum) and his gang of gypsy vigilantes are roaming the city, looking for trouble when Faye (Wendee Lee) witnesses a bioterrorist attack. Hovering above the city in her spaceship, she sees a man fleeing the scene. Over 500 people die in the attack, and the city offers a monetary reward for any information. The gang jumps at the opportunity. They decide to branch out, each using their own tactics to research the tragedy. Spike slinks through Chinatown, being led by shady underground characters. Faye traces the image of the man she saw back to military files. And the young Ed (Mellisa Fahn) and her dog Ein do some handy computer research. Meanwhile Jet (Beau Billinglsea), holds down the fort, worried about the gang. When the criminal Vincent (Daran Norris), is identified, with a connection to Spike's love interest Elektra (Jennifer Hale), the real action begins. COWBOY BEBOP is a visually dramatic film that combines several styles of illustration into one beautiful, cohesive animated environment. The Mars of this film is a combination of cities: New York, Hong Kong, London, Paris, and many more. Viewers are compelled to identify monuments and familiar structures, while the terrorist theme hits fearfully close to home.

Great movie. Similar to the show, but not the same.

Cowboy Bebop the movie carries the same visuals and storytelling of the show to a feature. Continuing the impressive visuals of and the complex characters it definitely feels like Bebop. The biggest difficulty with the film is the tone. Lots of reviews I've seen call this essential and identical to the show, but although connected and useful as it clears some plot lines up, this is a much darker story than many of the episodes are. If you consider yourself a major fan or really enjoy the visuals, than go for it, if not the show is fine on it's own and is more "fun" overall.

  • Straight good shit

Been a while since i saw the movie, but great. saw it in theatres. it is epic, true to the series without taking the characters out of it. In fact they are the focus, true piece out of the time of the series. And a great movie if you have a date. Relateable characters for the girls and guys. True to life in the characters which is always the most important thing, obviously melodrama since it's cowboy bebop, but is true to the series. Makes it relatable to reality, if not the fact that its in space. Highly recomend, definitely got laid from it. And minus the whole chick thing, a movie you'll want to watch again and again. like philosophy? especially good buy, whether you agree or disagree. And even if you havent seen the series you can appreciate the movie and it might get ...

  • Let There Be Jazz!

I've been a fan of the Cowboy Bebop series for quite a long time. I've seen all the episodes, fan art, and bonus videos up until this movie, and I have to say I was quite impressed. The art and special effects, as well as the english and japanese voice acting, were phenomenal. The storyline was top of the line, right down Shinichiro Watanabe's alley, really showing what it means to Bebop. And of course, we can't forget the music. The score for this movie sticks like glue to the jazz/blues style, yet still hip enough to allow just about anyone to pick up the soundtrack and rock out. I would definitly reccomend this film to anyone, anime fan or not, as a top of the list pick for great sci-fi/action flicks. So long, cowboy...

  • Cowboy Bebop Is a Classic!

Cowboy Bebop in itself is a classic show. The movie stands on its own in my opinion. The entirety of the movie is fantastic with the classical CBB style. I remember renting this from Hollywood Video way back. They only had 1 copy was lucky to snag 1st it came to DVD. Could never find a place to buy it back in the day either, at least from what I remember. But now I have it!

  • Anime movie with real kick!

The Cowboy Bebop series was just awesome. Noir-space-western at it's best. The movie pretty much sums up the series in one take. The plot amps up the action with the grad scale terrorist activities of one bounty. Spike and his "team" set off the take him down. The plot may not have to many twist, but some turns can leave one saying, "NO WAY!" Basically, if you love action, then buy this. If you like noir-space-westerns, then buy this. If you like the series, then you should already have this.
