I have a collection of the wonderful 1970s and 1980s series we grew up with, both drama and comedy, which earned British TV the epithet of the best in the world. I bought Series 1 of 'Dear Ladies' to add to that collection. However, I just didn't find it amusing this time round. I only found one joke amusing, otherwise I found the plots, scripts and delivery to be humourless and tiresome. I did try to like this but I was disappointing as I really like Hinge and Bracket in other situations such as interviews; just not here. I was so sure I wouldn't watch this DVD again that I donated it to a local charity shop. I'm pleased I only purchased a used copy for a small sum and didn't pay full price for a brand new DVD.

This DVD was not disappointing, it is still as funny to me as it was when Dear Ladies was on TV a number of years ago. Good story lines and played brilliantly, there was nothing that I did not like.

Enjoyed it when came out, unfortunately found it dated now. A piece of the past probably left there.

They are a great couple of ladies. Old fashioned fun.

I bought this as it holds so many memories of when I was younger, and when I watched it for the first time, I laughed and cried. I used to watch it with my mum when my dad was working nights, sadly dad died last year and unfortunately mum is very ill herself too. I have watched this several times now on my own and with friends and family and we all have fits of laughter. It is brilliant, well I think so anyway!
